WLT Announces Schedule for 2012 Statewide Wyoming Nature Camps
Popular Youth Camps Aim to Engage Next Generation in Wyoming's Natural Resources
Cheyenne, Wyoming - After booming success statewide last summer, the Wyoming Land Trust
announces the schedule for the 2012 Wyoming Nature Camps, adding on an additional camp to help
ensure as many Wyoming kids as possible have the chance to experience first hand all the wildlife,
natural resources and fun activities the WLT camps offer.

"Four years ago when we first launched Wyoming Nature Camps, we never could have imagined the
incredible response and encouragement we have received from kids, parents, teachers, sponsors and
community volunteers throughout Wyoming," said Executive Director of the Wyoming Land Trust
Lara Ryan.

"We are thrilled to have another opportunity this year to use public and private lands across the state
as a classroom to teach kids about Wyoming's vast natural resources - a chance to tour, explore, play,
experiment, create, watch, smell, and see what makes our state so great. As one camper said last year
- 'My favorite part was everything!'"

The WLT will be hosting five Wyoming Nature Camps this summer in Campbell, Laramie, Natrona,
Sublette and Sweetwater counties. The week-long day camps are open to children in 1st - 6th grade.
The cost for the camp is $200, which includes lunch, activities and transportation between venues.
Special scholarships are available for families. Dates for this summer are as follows:

Campbell County - July 30 through August 3
Laramie County - July 9 through July 13
Natrona County - August 13 through August 3
Sublette County - June 18 through June 22
Sweetwater County - June 25 through June 29

Camps filled up quickly last year, so interested parents are encouraged to contact the Wyoming Land
Trust immediately at 307-634-6058 or by email at Kathryn@wyominglandtrust.org.

Last year, WLT held their first statewide nature camps in Sublette, Sweetwater, Natrona, and
Campbell Counties. The widely-popular camps were attended by 135 Wyoming youth who had the
opportunity to explore many of the resources in their own community - from visiting a bison ranch,
surveying a prairie dog colony, conducting water quality tests to touring a coal mine and learning
about natural gas. The curriculum for each camp is tailored to each community to highlight
agriculture, energy, wildlife, water and other treasures in their own backyard.

Wyoming Nature Camps are part of the Wyoming Land Trust's "next generation" programs, activities
focused on engaging the state's youth to instill a curiosity for, and appreciation of, what makes
Wyoming so special.

"Our children won't care about the Wyoming we love, if they don't understand it," said Kathryn
Boswell, Director of Public Education and Outreach. "That is why the WLT designed Wyoming Nature
Camps to focus on ALL of Wyoming's natural resources: energy, agriculture, wildlife, and water,
using a science and place-based curriculum to interest, encourage and develop our next generation of
land stewards - the children who will inherit the state's wealth of natural resources."

Wyoming Nature Camps are made possible through the generous support of sponsors. Last year, the
camps garnered the support of more than 50 diverse sponsors which made it possible to offer
scholarships in every community camp was held.

WLT is currently seeking counselors and volunteers for all camp locations. Sponsors interested in
supporting this educational opportunity for Wyoming children are invited to contact the WLT. For
more information, please contact Kathryn Boswell with the Wyoming Land Trust at 307-634-6058.
